Is een foto voldoende als startpunt?

Een foto alleen is niet genoeg. We hebben altijd maten nodig om een model te maken dat klopt. Een foto mét afmetingen, ook een ruwe schatting op ruitjespapier, is een prima basis. Als opsturen nodig blijkt geven we dat aan. Hoe meer informatie, hoe beter het resultaat aansluit bij wat je voor ogen hebt.

Hoe lang duurt het maken van een 3D-model?

Dat verschilt per opdracht. Een eenvoudig vervangsonderdeel kan snel worden uitgewerkt; een gedetailleerd prototype met meerdere onderdelen kost meer tijd. Na je aanvraag krijg je binnen 48 uur een reactie met een indicatie van de doorlooptijd.

In welk formaat krijg ik het model opgeleverd?

Je ontvangt het model in .stp, .3mf en .obj. Dit zijn de meest gebruikte printformaten. Als je het model bij PixelPrints laat printen, regelen we de rest zelf.

Kan ik het model daarna ook elders laten printen?

Ja. Je ontvangt het bestand en mag er zelf mee doen wat je wilt. Wij printen het graag voor je, maar je bent nergens toe verplicht.

Wat als het model niet klopt?

We sturen het model ter goedkeuring voordat we eventueel gaan printen. Heb je na oplevering toch opmerkingen? Dan bespreken we dat direct. We werken aan een resultaat waar jij tevreden mee bent.

Kan ik een bestaand object laten namaken?

Ja, als je het origineel hebt, kun je het opsturen of nauwkeurig opmeten. Op basis van die maten modeleren we een digitale kopie die je kunt laten printen als vervanging of aanvulling.

When should you have a 3D model designed?

There are many situations where you need a 3D print, but the file just doesn't exist yet.

You have an idea or concept you want to test

A first prototype gives answers a drawing never can. Your concept gets developed into a model you can hold in your hands.

A part is broken, discontinued, or no longer available

Manufacturers stop making parts, appliances get discontinued and yet you don't want to throw out that one broken clip, hook, or housing. No drawing needed either: it gets recreated from a photo or the part itself.

Is a photo enough to get started?

A photo alone isn't enough. We always need measurements to create a model that is accurate. A photo with dimensions—even a rough sketch on graph paper—is a great starting point. If sending the item is necessary, we’ll let you know. The more information, the better the result will match what you have in mind.

How long does it take to create a 3D model?

That depends on the project. A simple replacement part can be worked out quickly; a detailed prototype with multiple components takes more time. After your request, you’ll receive a response within 48 hours with an estimated turnaround time.

In what format will I receive the model?

You’ll receive the model in .stp, .3mf, and .obj formats. These are the most common printing formats. If you have it printed at PixelPrints, we’ll take care of the rest ourselves.

Can I have the model printed elsewhere afterwards?

Yes. You’ll receive the file and are free to do whatever you like with it. We’re happy to print it for you, but you’re under no obligation.

What if the model isn't right?

We’ll send the model for your approval before we start any printing. Do you have any feedback after delivery? We’ll discuss it right away. We’re committed to a result you’re happy with.

Can I have an existing object recreated?

Yes, if you have the original, you can send it to us or take precise measurements. Based on those dimensions, we’ll model a digital copy that you can have printed as a replacement or addition.
